Why do Wickford win so many NHBC Awards?

Quality from start to finish is the mantra of Wickford Development Company Ltd. The build programme for our homes is typically 18 months. This is due to the traditional building techniques still employed in the construction of our homes. As the Building Regulations and planning policies evolve, Wickford continually look to enhance and improve the quality of the homes we build, to assimilate traditional with new build techniques and technology. Wickford will always seek to embrace new methods of construction or technology as long as the quality or longevity of the home is not compromised as well as the useability for the end user is practicable and it works!! We are ever conscious of how our homes will perform in a changing climate and therefore it is our preference to build with thermal mass construction techniques rather than favouring lightweight construction. Employing these techniques inevitably leads to longer build times. In Wickford’s experience if you do not pressure the build programme it helps the Site Management staff manage the quality control processes on site. That is why Wickford will not sell off plan but only sell completed homes.

Local reputable tradesmen and contractors are used. Many of our trades have been working for Wickford Development for over 25 years. The culture of those working at Woodlands Park is, ‘it must and has to be right.’ The management staff & tradesman that work at Woodlands Park are very proud of the work they do there. Their attitude and commitment to quality is reflected in the number of awards from the NHBC the site has received. Once again in 2023 Woodlands Park has been recognised as being the best new home site for quality in the UK in the NHBC Small Builder Category. Wickford have now won this award 3 times in the last 4 years! That is quite exceptional.

If you’ve not realised by now, Wickford are not your archetypal new home developer, if you visit our site and see our homes you will understand why. Have a careful look at the internal and external finishes. Discerning customers are able to see the difference between a home that has been carefully and lovingly built to that of one where the levels of dedication to quality are simply not the same.

Winning the 2023 NHBC Supreme Award is very special, this is recognition of everyone’s hard work. However, that night has now passed. Wickford will not rest on our laurels or bask in the glory of our NHBC Awards, that is not what we do. Tomorrow is another day for us to improve. Our own senior management team work very closely with EJ Taylor & Sons Ltd to ensure these high standards are continually maintained and improved upon. However, we do hope that these NHBC Awards provide the confidence and assurance to our future home owners when making a wise decision in choosing to buy a new build Wickford home.
